While the American team saw Phil Mickelson drawing sparks because of his ill comments on Ryder Cup USA Captain, the European squad witnessed a completely different picture.
World’s #1 golfer Rory Mcllroy was seen in huge praise of his captain and even hailed him as “fantastic” as he went on to command Ryder Cup for Europe.
According to Rory it’s the detailed attention of the Irishman (Paul McGinley) that has assisted to secure the 8th win for Europe in ten Ryder Cups.
“Paul has been the best wonderful captain ever”, remarked Rory.
“I feel that I am speaking on part of all 12 golfers in the team – he was just fantastic.”
The 47-year-old McGinley had taken a cue from erstwhile Man U manager Sir Ferguson who used to address his team before the start of every tournament.
“From the day 1 we came here, his speeches, his videos have been really inspirational and so the entire imagery in team room as well as the personnel he made us talk to. It’s all a part of a brilliant plan, all to pep us up to win Ryder Cup this year. He was really meticulous in all his plans & did not leave any stone unturned.”
Paul’s side led ten-six going into final day & Europe needed 4 points to get hold of the prestigious trophy which they claimed couple of years back- but again they won 5 matches & halved 3 more to come up with a very comfortable triumph.
41-year-old Lee Westwood, who was in his 9th Ryder Cup, admired Paul saying that the captain has founded the needed blueprint for upcoming European captains for this eminent Cup. On the other hand, the famous Spaniard golfer Sergio Garcia remarked that Paul has actually modernized the very role of a captain.
