All about Rory McIlroy
Of Northern Irish origins, Rory McIlroy is a professional golfer, and he is a member of the PGA Tour as well as the European Tour.
Formerly ranked the World Number One, he is also a major champion for two times, and he set a record when he won the US Open back in 2011, with a sixteen under par as he ploughed on to an eight-stroke victory. The year after that, that is, in 2012, he won the PGA Championship, held at Kiawah Island, where again he set a record by winning in just eight strokes.
But Rory McIlroy was in the limelight recently, as there are many discussions going on in the golfing world, as regards to when he will be able to re-emerge from the shadow that has been cast by the formidable achievents of Tiger Woods. Back in 2012, he had had a spectacular season, when he won the second major championship of his life, and was the number one player in the world. But unfortunately for Rory McIlroy, he had to give up that position when Tiger Woods beat him to the number one spot, and he found it extremely hard to maintain his position.
The odds are against him, for the year 2013 has not exactly been kind to Rory McIlroy in terms of performance. The first half of the year has not yet been as good as people had hoped it would be for him, and even though he has had top-ten finishes in four of his first-eight starts, things still do not look all that positive for him. On the other hand, Woods has been blazing away at the greens, and he is at the top of his game. He is in such good shape that he can go on to win multiple tournaments before the end of the year.
