McIlroy declares his new management team

Rory McIlroy, the Irish golf player, has confirmed that he has imparted Horizon Sports and more than that he has set up his very own management firm, which is called Rory McIlroy Incorporated.

Donal Casey, a well known businessman, will work as the chief executive of the company. Donal worked with Horizon Sports as director of strategy till last year’s December, having earlier worked as Aon Hewitt’s managing director and Irish Life Corporate Business’ chief executive.

Rory became a part of the Horizon, which a Dublin based company run by Conor Ridge, only more than 2 years ago. From earlier this year, there were reports that he would leave Horizon. Earlier Rory refused to deny or comment the move when asked regarding the rumors at the press conference. But recently he released a statement announcing the news from the company.

The statement stated: “Rory McIlroy today confirmed he has terminated his contract with Horizon Sports Management and that the details of the termination are in the hands of a legal team led by A&L Goodbody in Dublin, Ireland.”

It added that from now on, the golfer’s business interests would be managed by Rory McIlroy Incorporated. CEO would be Donal Casey, an actuary by profession with many years of chief executive officer experience.

business leader and a close friend of the McIlroy family Barry Funston would run the Rory Foundation for charity. Both of them would serve on the board of Rory McIlroy Incorporated along with Gerry McIlroy.
