Former world number one Rory McIlroy is set to have a very exciting 2014, claims Cindy Davis, the head of Nike Golf, his chief sponsor, who has been extremely impressed with the way the Northern Irishman has turned things around this year after a difficult first season with the Nike equipment.

It was Davis who presented McIlroy as the newest signing for Nike Golf amidst a blaze of publicity and it was seen by many as a coup by the company as it had two of the biggest stars in the sport at that time, Rory and Tiger Woods.

It is now known to everyone that Rory did not have the best of times with the Nike equipment last year, struggling for the majority of the season before finding his fight somewhat towards the end of last season and this season, he is already showing signs of improvement.

Davis stated Rory McIlroy started last year as the number one and it was the first time in his young career he had done so and there is lots of baggage that come with it. She also mentioned that it is the case with any sport as being the top athlete in that particular sport needs a lot of effort coming to terms with but having Tiger Woods around at the stable had done a lot for him and he had surrounded himself with people who help him as well.

Rory McIlroy has been heavily involved in the planning and designing aspect of Nike Golf and now, the former world number one says that he has the best ball and club combination he could have had and for Nike Golf, a relatively new player in the golf market, it comes as a huge compliment, especially coming from a former world number one.
