When just being a 19 year old Adrian Otaegui earned all the privileges of playing the European tour in 2012, he stunned the entire golf world because he was the one of the youngest players to do so. Otaegui, the winner of the 2010 British Boys Champion, is one of the youngest Spaniard who won an European Tour card.
Golf legend Jose Maria Ozalbal in his comment on Otaegui has recently said, “I know Adrian very well, and I have given tips and trained him on quite a few occasions. He is a very talented golfer and is young. He has the zest to learn too. He is mentally very tough and can show a decent performance in the short game as well, but at the same time he has to work hard in his game as there is the need to hit hard in the modern playing of golf.”
Former world number one Rory McIlroy is set to have a very exciting 2014, claims Cindy Davis, the head of Nike Golf, his chief sponsor, who has been extremely impressed with the way the Northern Irishman has turned things around this year after a difficult first season with the Nike equipment.
It was Davis who presented McIlroy as the newest signing for Nike Golf amidst a blaze of publicity and it was seen by many as a coup by the company as it had two of the biggest stars in the sport at that time, Rory and Tiger Woods.
Mcllory fans must be celebrating in delight lately- the world # 6 golfer has emerged as the esteemed Australian Open champion for 2013 with his dramatic single-shot triumph.
The 24 year old Northern Irishman began final Round 4 behind the mighty Adam Scott, the Aussie who was on lead throughout the week at Sydney. However, Rory carded a nice 66 with eagle at 7th & 4 birdies to win on eighteen under.
World # 2 Scott bogeyed 18th for 71 & finished on seventeen under, 6 clear of Aussie mate John Senden. Interestingly, Adam broke course record on the inaugural day of the championship with a sixty-two & was aiming to be the sole second man to contend for the Aussie triple crown (after Robert Allenby), having won Australian PGA & Australian Masters championships last month.
Rory McIlroy, the Irish golf player, has confirmed that he has imparted Horizon Sports and more than that he has set up his very own management firm, which is called Rory McIlroy Incorporated.
Donal Casey, a well known businessman, will work as the chief executive of the company. Donal worked with Horizon Sports as director of strategy till last year’s December, having earlier worked as Aon Hewitt’s managing director and Irish Life Corporate Business’ chief executive.
Paul Casey had been world number three, but then he had been not so lucky in keeping his world ranking intact, and he had slumped a great deal after that.
He had gone down to the rank of hundred and sixty nine, but then he finally made a comeback when he opened with a spectacular sixty seven at Oak Hill.
This has been seen by many as a move from Casey’s side to banish last year’s ghost of the PGA Championship, where he did really badly, and had to step aside from the championship. But he has really regained much of his form and fitness, and hopes have been lifted since he made a comeback at Oak Hill.
World number three Rory McIlroy and Australia’s very own world number four Adam Scott have confirmed their participation at the Australian Open which will tee off at the end of the year at the Royal Sydney Golf Club.
The Northern Irishman is a two time winner of majors and he will tee off alongside Scott, the first ever Australian to win the US Masters when he won there this season and the duo will have a lot of the world’s top ranked professionals for company with world number six and American champion Matt Kuchar confirming his participation earlier in the week whereas Rory’s countryman Graeme McDowell has also confirmed that he will be a part of the field.
There is no question that, when it comes to online casino games, the slots are the favoured option for the majority of players. The reason for this is fairly straightforward, as slot games are the easiest type of online casino game for new and inexperienced players to grasp, while also not requiring huge amounts of money to play – or carrying the risk of losing large amounts!
Given that sports betting is the only real competitor to online casino when it comes to betting online, it isn’t surprising that games based around popular sports like football and golf are increasing in number. One of the newer ones available is the golf-based slot game The Argyle Open – so does this game hit the fairway or land in the water?
Of Northern Irish origins, Rory McIlroy is a professional golfer, and he is a member of the PGA Tour as well as the European Tour.
Formerly ranked the World Number One, he is also a major champion for two times, and he set a record when he won the US Open back in 2011, with a sixteen under par as he ploughed on to an eight-stroke victory. The year after that, that is, in 2012, he won the PGA Championship, held at Kiawah Island, where again he set a record by winning in just eight strokes.
But Rory McIlroy was in the limelight recently, as there are many discussions going on in the golfing world, as regards to when he will be able to re-emerge from the shadow that has been cast by the formidable achievents of Tiger Woods. Back in 2012, he had had a spectacular season, when he won the second major championship of his life, and was the number one player in the world. But unfortunately for Rory McIlroy, he had to give up that position when Tiger Woods beat him to the number one spot, and he found it extremely hard to maintain his position.
The odds are against him, for the year 2013 has not exactly been kind to Rory McIlroy in terms of performance. The first half of the year has not yet been as good as people had hoped it would be for him, and even though he has had top-ten finishes in four of his first-eight starts, things still do not look all that positive for him. On the other hand, Woods has been blazing away at the greens, and he is at the top of his game. He is in such good shape that he can go on to win multiple tournaments before the end of the year.
Although Rory McIlroy was considered as the rightful heir to the throne after Tiger Woods, the way he had missed cuts in his career of five years which is far more than what tiger missed in his long 17 ears of career has put that expectation in question.
What is more shocking is that Rory is not bothered about it even if he missed ten cuts in a row, to him winning a major each year is more important. There was a hint of boast in his tone when he said, “Just imagine Tiger ever admitting that.” and yes, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods are two different individuals.
Justifying about having high tides and low tides in his career, Rory McIlroy talked about Phil Mickelson and mentioned that his highs and lows in his scores made him a man of flesh and blood and the phrase ‘to err is human’ worked well for him. According to him, a golfer could not have all the days for himself in every tournament and it is human. However, he detested the way Ronnie O’Sullivan plays golf.
Six months ago Rory McIlroy won the PGA title by eight strokes. He almost earned the name Mr. Infallible. The name quickly changed to Mr. Unfathomable after he did a deal swap from Father Christmas to Nike for multi-million dollars. But this could not have demeaned Rory McIlroy because he has always been full of hope. He said that this stuff was not new to him and he had always come back with a bang. Recently, he is in tough days. Wisdom tooth pain pulled him out of the Honda Classic in 2013; he got knocked out at the first round in the Word matchplay. But we all know that every cloud has a silver lining.
Women’s tennis’s former world number one Caroline Wozniacki has laughed off recent speculation that she is set to tie the knot in a matter of a few weeks with the golfer boyfriend Rory McIlroy.
Speaking to reporters assembled in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, the Danish tennis sensation stated that it is a question for the Northern Irishman himself to answer. Wozniacki is in the Malaysian capital to take part in the BMW Malaysian Open, where she is the top seed.
She stated that she is absolutely enjoying everything that is happening at the moment to her heart’s content and loves how things are right now. When asked about marriage, she stated that both of them are still quite young and added that they have a lot of years ahead of them. The 22 year old tennis ace fuelled speculation of an impending marriage to Rory McIlroy after she was spotted shopping in December wearing a large ring on her right ring finger, which seemed to be an engagement ring.
However, she has repeatedly denied since then that she and McIlroy have become engaged. According to a tradition in her native of Denmark, women are often seen wearing wedding rings on their right ring fingers. When the assembled journalists asked if she would accept a proposal from her boyfriend if McIlroy proposed right now, she burst into laughter, stating that things were getting a bit personal.
The 10th ranked Dane has 20 career titles to her name in the WTA Tour but she has failed to make a mark this year. Rory McIlroy has suffered a drop in his form as well, having not won a single title in 2013 with many critics blaming a change of clubs to Nike Golf at the end of last season for his stutter.
