The current world number one Rory McIlory clinches his third PGA Tour win this year as he won the Deutsche Bank Championship. It hasn’t been a smooth one for Mcllory. He was three shots behind the leaderboard when he entered the final round. But he managed to overcome the shortage in five holes after getting into the final round. He recorded a 4-under 67 score to secure his win by one shot over the South African Louis Oosthuizen.

McIlory now holds the record of winning three events at the PGA Tour along with Tiger Woods. He has also registered a win at the PGA Championship this year. Now that must be enough for the critics to elect him as the Player of the Year. McIlory is now in a comfortable position at the points table as he maintains a secure distance from the no. 2.

The 23 year old Northern Irish, Rory McIlory, set a lead of three shots in the 12th hole and then in the 17th hole he recorded a clutch bogey putt which brought the Deutsche Bank Championship for him. Talking about experience, McIlory said that he was a bit nervous but then he did exactly what was needed and he was happy for it. On the other hand, Oosthuizen, who suffered a pain in the right shoulder, told that the 17th hole decided the game in favor of McIlory when he himself missed an easy chance. McIlory capitalized on this and hit a sublime bogey putt from 5 foot which gave him the one shot lead.

Rory McIlory finished 20-under 264 and now he is on the top of the FedEx Cup leaderboard which means he will be given the chance to have go at the $10 million bonus when he starts his journey at the Tour Championship later this month.
