Rory stays at number one spot
Even after missing the cut in Middle East, both Rory McIlroy and US golfer Tiger Woods are in the top positions on teh World Rankings. While Rory is at number one position, Tiger is in the second spot.
Rory missed the cut in Abu Dhabi but in fact his issues were more basic in general compared to Tiger Woods. He was surprisingly wayward on his way to his 2nd back to back seventy five. Rory said that he knew that it would be a real tough week, but he was just looking ahead to getting to the golf course and getting back to what he does and what he is comfortable with. He added that he wanted it to be a stellar week with his brand new clubs, but it just doesn’t always work out like that. He was actually hitting the ball quite well last week in Dubai practice and just sort of gradually got worse this week for some reason.
McIlroy had started off as the favourite to win the whole tournament according to the online betting geniuses at Unibet, but unfortunatley he didn’t even make it into the top 48 golfers?! (I’m just lucky I didn’t have a bet online like I normally do!)
Thorbjorn Olesen and runner up Justin Rose, both of whom missed the birdie opportunities to drive a play off, now stand forty second and 4th in the world ranking list respectively. US golfer Brian Gay, whose closing sixty three handed him a win at California’s Humana Challenge following a play off with another US player Charles Howell as well as Sweden golfer David Lingmerth – leaps from 296th to 116th in the brand new ranking.
